No one knew where the horse bug came from, but from a young age, everyone knew Sarah had it. Even as a city kid with no chance of owning a horse, she never 'grew out of it' and did everything she could to learn and experience horses in any way available at the time. This unstoppable drive took her to the highest pinnacle of sport, the Olympic Games. She was a member of the 1988 3-Day Eventing Team, serving as groom for Karen (Lende) O' Connor riding The Optimist.
Working and training for an international level competitor and being surrounded by the best practitioners in all aspects of sport helped develop the management regimen and training program that Sarah still uses today.
In 1989, Sarah brought her expertise and enthusiasm back to Iowa. She formed Wolf Ridge Farm, LLC, and spent many years teaching and training out of local barns, building a loyal clientele and a strong reputation for quality and honesty.
In 2009, Sarah and husband Steve purchased a beautiful property outside of Iowa City and Wolf Ridge Farm finally had its own address.
Sarah is an American Riding Instructor Association Level II Certified instructor in both eventing and dressage. She's been teaching over 30 years and has been certified since 1995. In 2009, she was one of the first ten instructors in the nation to be chosen by the ARIA to be highlighted and interviewed in their award-winning publication "Riding Instructor".
"The thrill of being able to connect and communicate with a horse is what keeps me riding. Through a bond of trust and a willingness to listen, magic can happen. I want to create that magic with my horses and students. The more educated we are, the better riders we become, the best partners we can be to our horses. " Sarah Hauschild
